ANNUAL MEETING
1. Got your thinking caps on deciding whom to vote for in this year’s
election? Remember that you have a say in the decisions made at your
financial institution too? As a member of ____ credit union, you do! Make
plans to attend our annual meeting. The meeting will be held __________ at
the __________________ in _________ and will feature _________________ plus
socializing with your fellow members. If you’d like more information, or
would consider running for a position on one of our volunteer boards, ask
for details when you come off hold.
CREDIT UNION MEMBERSHIP
2. Who are men and women’s best friend? The answer most often heard is the
family dog or pet. And it’s probably true. Did you know that 3% of pet
owners will give Valentine’s Day gifts to their pets? If you ask me who
man’s best friend is I’d be inclined to say ______ credit union. After all
you are a member owner. And unlike most financial institutions _____ credit
union is committed to providing the best in financial services to you at the
lowest possible prices. Now that’s a friend.
3. Sorry we had to put you on hold. As a member-owner of ____ credit union,
we are going to spend more time with you than another financial institution
might spend with their customer. Thank you for your patience.
HOME BANKING
4. February 21st is a banner day in the world of communications and
technology. On that date in 1838 Samuel Morse demonstrated his telegraph.
The speed with which people could send and receive information was forever
changed. Home banking has done the same thing. Log onto
www._________________,click on _________________. Look around and you’ll see
that you can access your credit union accounts 24 hours a day, 7 day a week
from the comfort of home or office. It will save you from having to bounce
on down to the credit union. Any questions? Ask for __________ when you
finish your current business.
MasterCard/VISA
5. Ever receive a Vinegar Valentine? Also called Penny Dreadfuls these
humorous valentine cards began showing up in the mid 19th century. One card
that is definitely not a penny dreadful is your credit union’s
VISA/MasterCard. If it carries the name ______Credit Union you can count on
(No-Low) fees; low rates. Turn dreadful cards into wonderful cards by using
_______ Credit union’s MasterCard/Visa.
NCUA
6. Anyone know the longest one syllable word in the English language? Well,
it’s a tie. The first of two words is strengths. And one of your credit
union strengths is that your deposits are insured up to $250,000 by the
National Credit Union Administration, a United States Government agency. The
second word? Straights. As in head straights, uh, straight to _________
credit union for all your financial service needs.
7. We are sorry that we had to put you on hold. While we have a moment, here
are some tips for keeping warm this winter. Prepare your home. Stock up on
provisions in case it is too cold to go to the shops. Seal gaps around
windows and doors. One more tip: While you’re having your heater serviced it
might be a good time to have that air conditioner checked. I’ll bet those
guys aren’t all that busy right now.
TAXES
8. What do Connecticut, Florida, Rhode Island, Utah, Pennsylvania, and
Virginia share in common? Give up? Those are the six states that never
officially ratified the sixteenth amendment. If your history is a bit fuzzy
the 16th amendment, enacted in 1913, streamlined our governments ability to
tax our income. We have created a way for you to streamline the processing
of your tax returns. Try filing your tax return electronically. ________
Credit Union can offer electronic filing of your federal tax return.
Electronic filing could result in a faster tax refund for you. Interested?
Ask for information when you come off hold. Oh, and if you're expecting a
tax refund ask about an instant refund tax loan from your credit union.
9. Thanks for your patience. Please have your account number, social
security number and a pen and paper handy. This will help us help you in the
most efficient manner. Thanks again.
10. Who receives the most Valentine’s Day cards? In this order: teachers,
children, mothers, wives, and then sweethearts. Children aged 6 – 10
exchange more than 650 million cards. If you’ve depleted your resources
providing valentines cards to your family look to your credit union for
help. We exist to offer loans to members at great rates. With interest rates
as low as ___% APR and repayment terms up to ___ months, you begin to get
the feeling our members are our greatest asset. And you’d be right. Ask for
more information when you come off hold.
11. What NOT to give your loved one for Valentine’s Day: A box of
chocolates, rearranged in an attempt to hide the fact you ate all the
caramel ones; any clothing item with the words “slim-down” on the label;
and, of course, anything you bought at the gas station mini-mart. But, since
you’re a _____ Credit Union member, we’re sure your Valentine’s Day gift
ideas are GREAT ones. If you need a little help playing Cupid, why not take
advantage of our red-hot deals on loans? Right now, rates start at ___% APR
for personal loans and ___% for secured loans. Happy Valentine’s!
SAVINGS
12. Care to guess what, throughout history, was the greatest gift of love?
Most people will tell you it was the Taj Mahal in India It was built as a
memorial to the Emperor’s wife. The work began in 1634 and was finished in
1656. 22,000 laborers worked on the Taj Mahal. That must have dipped into
the Emperor’s savings. Speaking of savings sign up for one of ______ credit
union’s savings plans. You’d be amazed at how fast, even a small amount of
money deposited regularly, can add up. We’d be happy to give you more
information. Just ask when you come off hold.
13. Thank you for holding. Someone will be right with you. Were you aware
February 28 is designated as Bachelors Day? For three years out of four that
is. Every leap year Bachelors’ Day is celebrated on the 29th of February.
The significance of Bachelors’ day? It was the one day of the year that a
woman could propose marriage to a man. Thankfully men and women aren’t
required to follow that tradition anymore. We’ll be right with you.
